We are constantly being asked questions about our boats and our trips. We have tried to answer most things throughout our website but sometimes and FAQ’s page is the easiest place to find your answers.
If conditions are deemed too dangerous to operate or it is raining persistently then the skipper will make the decision to cancel the Seafari.
We try to give the customer as much notice as possible, if the forecast is very poor this decision will often be made the day prior to the trip.
However, weather conditions can change rapidly and sometimes last minute decisions are essential.

There are NO toilets on either Blue Thunder or Blue Lightning.
Minimum age of 3. Of course, anyone under the age of 16 needs to be accompanied by a responsible adult. It’s more about the size, and as long as you can sit safely on the seat and hold on you should be fine – old or young.
There will be staff at St Ives lifeboat station who are ticket sellers but the main desk is located over the far side of St Ives harbour (opposite the Sloop Inn Pub). Once you arrive, we all put on a life jacket and walk over to the departure point.
The short answer is NO. We do not recommend that you ride if you suffer from a back, neck or serious injury, and we will be asking you to sign a waiver to that effect. We are trained in very basic first aid only and the first aid onboard is limited. Please KNOW we are not medical experts. We also reserve the right to disallow customers if necessary.
Blue Thunder seats 12 passengers and Blue Lightning also seats 12 passengers. We can accommodate large parties of up to 24 people which will be split between two of our boats.
You should not get wet! However, there may be some light spray. Please wear appropriate clothing. (Jacket etc.)
Our high speed boat rides are totally safe! We are regulated by the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) and Mecal boat surveyors to ensure seaworthy boats and qualified crew.
Common Dolphins, Bottlenose Dolphin Risso Dolphins, Atlantic Grey Seals young and adults, Sharks, BlueFin Tuna, Sun fish – Sea birds Gannets Cormorants SeaGulls.
We have never had a passenger who has been seasick on any of our trips. Our boats have high-speed planing hulls that slice through any rough water meaning we are less affected by the slow-rolling motion which causes seasickness.
